Sossusvlei is based in the largest conservation area in Africa - in the Namib-Naukluft National Park. It is definitely the most spectacular and best-known attraction of Namibia. Experience the typical red dunes which are among some of the highest dunes in the world - they reach almost 400 meters. You can climb them (especially "Big Daddy" - the highest dune in the world) and enjoy the breathtaking view. The red dunes and the salt & clay pans (Sossuslvei, Deadvlei, ...) provide an amazing contrast for photographers as well. Go there and catch the beautiful morning and evening light.

In spite of the adverse circumstances in the desert, you can find a wide variety of flora & fauna that has adopted to survive.

You can easily take the C27 to Sesriem. The street is not in perfect condition - that is why we would not recommend you to drive this way with a "low car" like a VW Polo. The drive is a bit adventures but offers a beautiful landscape.

Duration: about 5 hours

If you do not have a 4x4 or a high car we highly recommend you to take the C14 and C19 to Sesriem. The streets are in very good condition and you will not have any troubles to reach your next destination.
